This is a hard one to review, because one of the barista’s at this spot is a big fan of my comedy show. So, I will tread lightly. The shop itself is a little hard to find and located within a strip mall. Upon walking in, there was limited seating with one table filled with a women selling art and another housing a guy playing guitar and singing loudly like we would be missing out if we did not hear him. The vibe of the shop struck me as a little more vagabond then most and felt it belonged in Eugene Oregon. I was excited to see the La Marzocco machine, but taken back a little when they asked if I wanted flavor in my latte. On top of that, no 8 oz cup. The final product did not have the greatest color and the flavor was a little hard to find. Maybe it was my tastebuds that day, but I sweat I could not actually taste the coffee. I think this would be a cool place to hang if there wasn’t some guitar guy belting away songs he uses to try and melt chicks panties off with.

Oh man, I was so stoked to wander into this place and see a single group Synnesso machine and a pour over station. Although this is not really a coffee shop. This place is all about the food. It’s a diner/cafe that serves up some tasty goodness from their full kitchen. The coffee had some great color and some good flavor. It was a little bitter, but I am not going to nitpick, because you are in bloody Fergus Falls Minnesota. However, the second time I came in my 8 oz double shot latte cost me $4.20 and they did ask me if I wanted flavor. I like to forget my second exchange and focus on the first, which was great. Definitely the best bet in FF. Get some great food also!

I was so excited about this place when I read about it. They roast their own beans, have a nice La Marzocco with chemex and french press options. The shop was a giant let down. Full of college kids working on their computers leaving no place to sit. The presentation was horrible. It seemed like the barista did not even take time to make my drink, just throwing some shit in a cup and calling it a day. The flavor was missing and it was very bland. So lame! What a waste of good resources. Go somewhere else.

When I heard about The Mod I became excited. I imagined a place with vespa’s parked outside, The Smiths playing inside and the local artist meeting place. Definitely not the case. The Mod is nice and certainly the best bet in the very confusing town of Galveston. A interesting clientele. Locals mixed with cruise ship passengers makes this a distant and friendly place. A cool brick interior decorated with interesting art on the walls. Sweet snacks, tea, wine are all served at the Mod. I forgot to jot down their machine, because I was to busy writing down their scary names for their coffee concoctions, A grasshopper, Almond Joy and Honeybee to name a few. I have to admit that this was the first time I had ever seen a Hello Kitty tattoo on a man, as he slammed my drink on the counter. The coffee was well over the 8 oz I requested and hotter then Mila Kunis eating ice cream. If this wasn’t the only game in town, I would not go here, but it is your only bet. It is a cool place, just not the best coffee.

Shit. Orlando is a spread out place. Took me forever to get to this place and I barely made it before it closed. Credo kind of feels like a cool apartment. With an open layout, really cool art and a separate room that makes it feel like it could be a beachfront bungalow in Mexico. Littered with hipsters, this shop has some tasty treats and cool tunes. Based off the look of the shop, I was surprised to see that the machine they used was poor. A single group crap maker. The coffee was very generic, but that is not what matters about this place. What matters is that they are all about making the world better. First off, this shop is pay what you can. That’s right, you can pay whatever the hell you want. I am sure people get weirded out by this, so they do have a suggested donation, but they will not turn away someone who does not have any money. It is a non-profit coffee shop that donates a lot of their proceeds to four different charities around the Orlando area. They use fair trade beans and even make trips to the plantation where they get them. Overall, I like to support places like this over other shops because they are doing the good work. They might not have the good coffee, but it’s a little blip in the large scheme of things.

When I found the Bean Scene I was so excited. I was spending a week in Kelowna and it was the hip place and where all the cool kids hung out. With a few locations around town the best one is right downtown. The Bean Scene has a great layout, with awesome art and great people. The food is good, and the coffee is pretty good also. It is nothing special, but I have seen them make a good cup of coffee. It’s less about the coffee in this place and more about the cool hang.

There are two of these locations and they both seem to be the hot spot in Buffalo. Seems like this is the hub of coffee culture with all sorts of characters hanging out. It seemed a little strange behind the bar. I did not know which one of the 6 people working was the barista, but the coffee turned out ok and the atmosphere was pretty cool. However the second time I came in they charged me $5 for a 8 oz double shot latte. When I brought up that I did not pay that the last time I was here they said, “Well that’s the price.” If you have to pay $5 for your coffee then, it is not worth it regardless if they have a La Marzocco. Also it is $1.08 to get a refill for your drip. I know this because I had only drunk 1/2 of my coffee and asked for a refill and they made a point to say that they had to charge me the full price. For a place as popular it as it is, they are not the best. Go somewhere else…

A funky little place on the corner of the main drag. They don’t have the best coffee, but adequate and the atmosphere is pretty fun. Feels like a dark terrariam and has all sorts of nook and cranny’s you can hideout in. Not the greatest selection of food either, but a great place to study and hang out.
