This was highly recommended to me, but I was confused on why. This is a restaurant that also has a coffee counter. Decorated in army parachutes and camouflage everything this tribute to Cuba has tons of space and is constantly packed with hipsters. The staff was very friendly and nice and their food is great. It is not really set up for you to get you coffee and sit down (unless you are eating food) although if you are getting your coffee to go, they do have a large assortment of baked goods to take away with you. A good La Marzocco produced a nice cup with a light flavor to it. It was good, I just did not understand all the hype about it. Only two blocks away there is a shop that blows your mind and focuses just on coffee. Get some food here.

Macrina’s specialty is certainly not coffee, but like everything they do, they do it well. With A few locations around town, Macrina delivers some of the best baked goods and tasty treats in the city. Sandwiches, soups, salad and every baked good you can imagine this is solid place to stop. Every Macrina I have been to, has a great layout with beautiful woodwork and intricate designs. No detail has been missed in everything Macrina does. Their coffee is made on a small La Marzocco and they deliver a better shot then any other place in the city that does not specialize in espresso. If you are hungry, or want a good place to meet someone and get some great coffee, this is it!

On The Hill

The On The Hill Cafe is a pretty cool corner coffee shop in a upscale neighborhood. The vibe is really cool and it has a steady flow of people throughout the day. Since it is located so close to the art school, you get a lot of your arty types mixed in with the people who live in the neighborhood around it. The food is very good with a healthy selection of pastries and cooked dishes. They serve Zekes coffee, and the machine they use is a little sub-par. I wanted more out of this place. I wanted them to bust out an amazing espresso, to compliment the coolness of the place, but they did not. It was good, but not as good as the environment.

This spot is conveniently located and not terrible. There certainly could be worst coffee in town. A shotgun layout gives it an interesting look and it being a college town, seemed to bring in a lot of people studying. The food was decent and the staff very friendly. If you can wait, I would get my coffee in Moscow and skip Pullman altogether, but if you have to, this is the spot.
