This place is located in Old Town Newport and is right across the street from where you can hear the Sea Lions causing all sorts of commotion. They use McLaughlin Coffee and a Le Grand Danieli machine. They don’t have wi-fi, but serve some great food. It’s more of a cafe then a coffee shop. It took probably 15 minutes for me to get my coffee, I think because it is really busy, and there are only two dudes working there. The space is very nice with an all wood interior and a fishing shack feel to it. The coffee was very poor and very bitter. I would go with drip or pour over, or just get food and try a different spot.

The Barista Parlor was a pain in the ass to find, but so worth it. Located in the back of a building, with a walled parking lot around it, makes it a peculiar setting. Outside are three bright blue garage doors decorated with a giant anchor which is a great welcoming. The inside is equally as cool. A huge open space decorated with great art on the walls, rockabilly music and the bar in the middle. The bar is very unique look to it that displays their Slayer Machine and pour over stations nicely. Also on display are their assortment of delicious yummy’s. I had a chocolate/bourbon/sea salt cookie that was like Cinco De Mayo in my mouth. This place certainly has a little kitschy-ness to it with their family style seating, and amazing interior decorations, but I love it! They rotate their coffee’s every week highlighting multiple roasters from all over the country. The day I was there they were using Intelligence and Sight Glass (San Francisco.) It took a little while to get my coffee. That might be the Slayer though. The only other time I was a shop that used the Slayer it also took a long time. It did not matter though, the coffee was superb! Great flavor, strong presentation and a whole lot of amazing swirling around my tastebuds. This is a must go if you are a coffee fan. This has skyrocketed into my top 5 coffee shops in the United States. What a treat to go to such a cool city and enjoy such an amazing shop. Great job Barista Parlor!

This is a cool little spot located in Echo Park. It has delicious baked good out the yin yang to choose from and a little seating area to enjoy them. Not much for atmosphere, but maintains a healthy flow of beautiful people coming and going. A Strada Machine that highlights the quality Four Barrel Coffee they use. The coffee was smooth with good color, but just lacked a little bite. It was almost too smooth for my taste. I like to have the flavor explode in my mouth, and this was just lacked that little extra spark. Solid coffee anywhere else, but not going to knock your sunglasses off.

I love finding random places that seem like they have a lot of culture. I was stoked when I passed by Bluebeard. They had all the outside signs for a cool shop. Interesting signage, big garage door windows and people inside! My cool coffee shop radar did not lead my astray. Bluebeard has a solid La Marzocco machine which they use to whip you up a delicious shot of your preferred coffee drink. They roast on site and their bean is very good with some great flavor to it. They only downfall of this place is that it is a little overpriced which is not that bad, but when you combine that with the heaps of contempt their barista’s hold toward their customers it makes it a little hard to swallow. I love great coffee, but I hate people who don’t seem to give a shit about the people they are making it for. Great coffee, bad attitude.

I love this place my friend. Vancouver does not have a lot of options for great coffee due to it’s close proximity to Portland and everyones willingness to drive 10 minutes to get their culture. However, they have a great shop right in downtown Couv! Mon Ami, uses a Stumptown bean, La Marzocco Machine and they rock a great cup of joe. Not only is their coffee superb, they also have snacks and make amazing crepes in every way you want to ingest it. Sweet, savory and swavory these crepes are a great way to compliment the amazing espresso. With great art on the wall, talkative locals and ideal location this place is worth staying around for.

A real awesome place on the corner of a block full of great shops and restaurants. It is the pointy part of a triangle shaped building and is a unique place to hang. A lot of hipsters kicking it, a lot of natural light that allows the hipsters to keep their sunglasses on while they hang out. Not a lot of places to sit, but the coffee is delicious. They have a fancy La Marzoca and lay down the goods on every drink I have ever ordered there.
