What an awesome space. Right in downtown Dickinson this is A old church that was converted into a small coffee shop. Brilliant! Still with the stained glass windows and pew seats to really give you the church feel. Great food, fast internet, a cool archway and a steady flux of interesting looking people playing chess are probably the best things about the shop (other then the space itself.) The coffee was not super flavorful, which is weird considering they use Full City Coffee. However, the coffee was very good considering the fact you are in Dickinson ND. They also have pour over options. Hey, this is like heaven for ND. Best bet for sure and a great place to hang for an extended period of time.

A interesting place. Seemed very popular and was packed with old people and families making it hard finding a seat. I am not sure why it is so popular though. Aside from their snacks, and attractive barista’s the coffee was pretty rough. The big give away was that they really promote hard their specialty drinks. “Drink one of our 70 creations” a sign read. Something like Pralines and Cream latte or a Baklava latte, which sounds gross. My drink was made in 30 seconds and was way to hot. Decent space, but hard to find and crappy coffee make it really undesirable.

I had been to Grand Forks a few times and was excited to find this place. Located right across the street from campus and naturally flooded with students, this place is pretty cool. Big space, with lot’s of seating, fireplace and lot’s of light. Archive sports a gold Astoria Machine and is part of a campaign called “Ground For Change.” They use only organic fair trade coffee and do their best to help sustain a ethical coffee trading business. They laughed when I asked for a 8oz drink, presenting 12oz as their smallest size. After explaining to them that you could fit a 8oz drink in side a 12oz glass, I saw the guy’s mind get blown (PE Major.) The color was decent, and the flavor was the same. Nothing to write home about, but passable for the town you are in. The best part about this place is the space. Great hangout and people watching.

This place is downtown in the dilapidated downtown of Devils Lake. A teenage hang out. I felt a little creepy just being in there. I think you have to have a extensive knowledge of Justin Bieber and Deadmau5 just to get in the door. Pretty large space, with lot’s of seating they use a Rancilio machine and Dark Canyon Coffee. Confused at my 8 Online Pokies oz size, they did their best to accommodate and I was pleasantly surprised. Don’t get me wrong, it did not knock my socks off, but it did have some pretty good flavor and being in Devils Lake, something like that is something that can raise one’s spirits. Snacks and wi-fi round out the plus’s of this place. Your best bet in DL.

This place kitschy idea was to decorate it like it was a Seattle coffee shop. However, I have never been in a Seattle coffee shop that has a aluminum space needle in the corner. The owners are from Seattle, and must have not been there in a long time because their coffee shop was a big let down. A huge space, with lots of seating and tons of great light. They have a La Cimbali machine and name all their food after places in and around Seattle. They did not have a 8 oz size and was very weirded out and confused at my drink order. They use the Olympia roaster Batdorf and Bronson and the coffee was terrible. Sadly for coffee this is probably your best bet in Jamestown. The one saving grace of this place is their food was great. I would say, get some food, and stick to the drip and get the hell out of Jamestown. Why are you there?

One of the higher rated shops on Yelp, and once again, the popular user generated site is leading people astray. A god awful shop that is stale and full of odd trinkets for sale. The coffee is just as odd. Dumbfounded by my 8 oz drink, the barista definitely asked if “I wanted flavor” and charge extra for a second shot. A La Cimbali machine and a Diedrich roaster on site, the place is a wash. Don’t go here.

Located in Downtown Fargo, this place is a writers dream. Lot’s of space, clean, decent light and a lot of interesting people coming and going. Although there was no art on the walls which was a little striking. They have a light food selection to nibble on while you wait for your coffee. They use an organic fair trade bean and is very smooth. It is not as strong as Red Raven, but has some decent flavor. The barista’s are very nice hear. It’s really a flip of the coin on which place is better.

Red Raven was a little hard to find. Located on a main street and not very well marked. Looked more like a door to someone’s apartment then to a business, but once found it is a really cool shop. Very spacious, with cool art and a large stage which would be a perfect place to watch a show. A loft upstairs and books scattered around this has some great ambiance. I was a little disappointed with the machine though. A dinky La Cimbali. It’s so small I think the worlds smallest woman would say, “What is this shit?” I was happy to see that they actually offer 8 oz sizes, but I was disappointed with the results. It was way to hot, although it did have some decent flavor. It tasted a little burnt, but it’s all about the ambiance at this spot.

I was surprised to really like Grand Forks. A really funky art’s district with this spot right in the heart of it. A cool space, with lot’s of space to spread out and cool art on the walls. Seems like all the cool people in Grand Forks make this their oasis. Located close to the college also, you will find a lot of students burying their faces in books and laptops. The only problem is that the coffee is not that great. They support a very inferior machine and I did not feel the barista really knew what she was doing. Although it is a great place to hang, the coffee is a letdown. I would get some drip and kick it and not waste your money on any espresso.
