765 ELMWOOD AVE
BUFFALO, NY 14222

Review -

There are two of these locations and they both seem to be the hot spot in Buffalo. Seems like this is the hub of coffee culture with all sorts of characters hanging out. It seemed a little strange behind the bar. I did not know which one of the 6 people working was the barista, but the coffee turned out ok and the atmosphere was pretty cool. However the second time I came in they charged me $5 for a 8 oz double shot latte. When I brought up that I did not pay that the last time I was here they said, “Well that’s the price.” If you have to pay $5 for your coffee then, it is not worth it regardless if they have a La Marzocco. Also it is $1.08 to get a refill for your drip. I know this because I had only drunk 1/2 of my coffee and asked for a refill and they made a point to say that they had to charge me the full price. For a place as popular it as it is, they are not the best. Go somewhere else…

This is a great spot in a interesting location. I thought I might be in the hood when I stumbled upon this place, but it did not matter because this place is a diamond in the rough. They had a great roast and machine (La Marzocco,) and even though I thought the coffee underperformed the quality of equipment, it was still very good. Seems to have a good local hangout vibe with good conversation, a sense of community and cool people. Ambiance and food are fantastic, the only knock on this place is that is closes early.

This is a funky little spot in the heart of Allentown. It has limited seating, and is laid out poorly. The coffee was not so good either, with my espresso being almost burned. Although, it does have a little spunk to it and there was some really interesting people hanging out. Might be a fun spot to chill for a few hours and find out what Buffalo is all about.

This place is great. Reminds me of a European cafe with lots of interesting people, cool staff and beer. The coffee was pretty good and probably one of the better cups in Buffalo. They are open late, and seem to be a great spot to visit. I love this place! It is a little overpriced, but they have a pretty decent food selection and some fun outside seating to people watch.

This is the spot. There are a few of them around the area, but I like the one in Saratoga Springs the most. An interesting mix of well dressed people and hipsters, but the coffee did not disappoint. They roast right there on site and delivered a good cup every time. I was skeptical about the Synesso, but was very happy with the final outcome. It is a huge space with a steady stream of people coming and going. I would recommend sitting out in the European style seating out front and people watch. Even though they seemed to focus more on their food then their coffee, it was very good quality.

There are a few of these around Rochester and I hear the all have a great atmosphere. The one I was at had really cool art hung all over the place and is very spacious. It has a stage with lighting for the numerous shows they put on. Overall this is a fantastic place to hang. The food is great and this is a solid place to grab lunch or meet a friend. Although that is what it’s best at. The coffee was burned and very mediocre. Cool place to hang, but try and find somewhere else to get decent coffee.
