Everything is great about this place except that is a drive thru. No real signage for it, makes it a little hard to find, but well worth the journey. The owner is your barista and knows more about coffee then Rain Man knows about counting cards. A La Marzocco machine and using his own beans that he roasts himself he served up a beautiful cup decorated with a amazing rosetta. The color was pristine and the flavor was good. It was almost a little to smooth for my taste, but that’s me being a pretentious asshole. This place is awesome and it is nice to talk directly with the owner. Go here!

21 S Main Street Baker, Montana

21 S Main Street
Baker, Montana

What I want to really know is “why the hell are you in Baker?” Aside from oil fields, there is no real reason to be here. However, if you do find yourself traveling through, there is a coffee shop. It is located in the back of the Flower shop and you have to pass an assortment of weird gifts and cards to get to it (that’s how they get ya.) There are a few tables to sit, but no internet. They have an Astra Machine and aside from coffee you can get tea, chocolate and Fuze fizzy drinks. The coffee was better then I expected, but still not very good. There is a drive thru on the outskirts of town, but this might be your best bet.

This is a bike and ski shop right outside of Yellowstone National Park, but they do have a small coffee shop inside. A very nice lady served me and seemed to know what she was doing when it came to making coffee. They serve Cravens (which I have never really liked), but surprisingly enough she served up a halfway decent cup of coffee. It is not like it was great, but for being the only espresso around it will due.

3091 North Sanders Street,
Helena, MT

Review -

This was Urbanspoons highest rated coffee shop in Helena, and it was awful. First off, it is located in the most inconvenient place. It is easier to get to Western Samoa. The shotgun layout is horrible and unfortunately that is the best thing about this place. The business format is very much modeled after Starbucks. Even though they pump out coffee like the Octomom pumping out babies, their coffee is terrible. I would rather gargle diarrhea. Unfortunately like Starbucks, their clientele is clueless and they make a huge profit by serving liquid garbage. Don’t go here!

The Hub

314 South Last Chance Gulch Street,
Helena, MT 59601

Review -

Urbanspoon did not even have this listed, and Yelp had it ranked low, but they have no clue what the hell they are talking about. The Hub, is by far the the best coffee shop in town (see my review on Urbanspoons highest rated shop Scenic Brew.) The hub is hip, has lots of locals hanging, cool art and GREAT COFFEE. They have a slick La Marzoca and the quality coffee is hands down the tastiest in Helena. They gave me a nice rosetta in my 8 oz latte and it was not even overpriced (like everything else in Montana is.) This is the spot to hang and enrich you palettes.

119 9th Street North,
Great Falls, MT 59401

Review -

I only had time to try one place in Great Falls and I made a huge mistake. I guess I let my fantasy that coffee roasters know how to make coffee take over, and that is certainly not the case. This is the highest rated coffee shop on Urbanspoon and is absolutely terrible. The place smelled, was full of old people and served my drink in a Styrofoam cup. They also had no 8 oz drink, asked me if I wanted my drink “Hot” and asked if I wanted “any flavoring?” All the signs of poopy coffee and that is exactly what it was. It was like gargling poo in my mouth. Do not go here!

121 West Broadway Street
Missoula, MT 59802

Review -

This is a huge space right in downtown Missoula. It is almost to much space. It feels like if someone is across the room they are in another county. They have 20 ft ceilings, a stage, event guides and a really friendly staff. Not having high expectations after looking at their machine, but they pulled me two decent shots that I was very happy with. This is a great place to be quite and study and that is what most of their customers are doing. OK food, but I would say there has to be a better place in town.

628 W MAIN ST # 2
BOZEMAN, MT

Review -

I don’t know if this is a Montana chain, but there are two of them in Bozeman alone. Regardless, they are pretty good. Minimal layout gives it the hipster feel of Portland and they pull some decent shots. They use a La Marzoca and roast there own beans. It is nice to see a roasting company who knows what they are doing. I thought the roast was a little weak, but it has all the quality to entertain the palette. Have snacks and pastries and they clientele is a very mixed batch, but what do you expect? It’s Montana!
