This place is right in the heart of a really cool neighborhood. What a cool space it is also. Fantastic art and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting on the ceiling makes this a fucking awesome space. Exposed brick, with couches to kick it on and full on desks to work at. Probably one of the coolest coffee shops I have been in! I wish I could speak as highly about their coffee. They have a La Spaziale machine and use Intellegencia coffee. They did not have a 8oz drink and the ceramic mug they gave me was about 12 oz. It did have a nice rosetta, but it was so milky I could not really taste the coffee. If I were you, I would just get a espresso shot here and hang. The owner is cool, and it is nice to see someone building something that is so cool.

A space that looks like was transported right out of Portland. Complete with the white hipsters, retro clothing, funny beards and good coffee. A pour over station, La Marzocco machine and light snacks add to the quality of this place. Did not have 8oz latte on the menu, so rung me up for a australian online pokies cappuccino (which is annoying,) but the coffee was very good. The coffee was a little tart, but had great color and a very nice rosetta. This is a smaller space (20 seats,) but a very cool space and if you want to visit the NW without the shitty weather, go here.

Octane Coffee

Octane was a little hard to find, but once I found it I was stoked. The south has been a little slow to catch onto the specialty coffee trend, but it was nice to find a place that is setting the standard. I had read a lot about this place before I showed up and was a little surprised to see that they had a Simonelli machine in the shop. Even with my skepticism, they delivered a fantastic Macchiato with a side of sparkling water that made me have hope for a future of coffee in Georgia. The space is cool with high ceilings that were decorated with pipes, great art on the walls, food and a full bar. I would say this is your best bet in in Atlanta. They make great coffee. I would love to see what they could do with a better machine!

Urban Grind

I stumbled upon this place in search for a different coffee shop and was pleasantly surprised with my coffee geo cache. Urban Grind is actually that. A urban place with coffee. A small, hip shop with amazing art on the wall. The jazz playing and the couches in the center of the space make this place feel like it’s straight out of the birth of cool. You can relax and enjoy your free internet, cupcakes, vegan treats and ice cream. Unfortunately, that is your best bet here. I ordered a Macchiato and they gave it to me in a 12 oz cup with a lid. The machine leaves a little something to be desired and could be fit into a microwave. Even though the coffee was a bust, this place is a great place to hang. If you are looking for a place to kick it, this is it!
