Being so close to Seattle I am always surprised to not see the same sort of coffee culture that exists only 32 miles north. Tacoma is slow to come up, but there are a few shops that can make you feel like you are in the Emerald City. Sattelite is one of them. This particular one, is very small and looks like an old outpost in Maine. It sports about 7 seats and upon walking in I got the feeling I was the only guy in the room that was not buddies with everyone. A sleeveless 20 year old barista tried selling me a $50 bag of coffee before I even ordered and was shocked when I declined his offer. A good La Marzocca and using the ever so popular Stumptown bean this place will not disappoint if all you are looking for is good coffee. If you are looking for a great place to hang out, this is not it. I would recommend to get your coffee and go, before you end up wasting $50 on some overpriced gold infused Stumptown roast.

I love finding random places that seem like they have a lot of culture. I was stoked when I passed by Bluebeard. They had all the outside signs for a cool shop. Interesting signage, big garage door windows and people inside! My cool coffee shop radar did not lead my astray. Bluebeard has a solid La Marzocco machine which they use to whip you up a delicious shot of your preferred coffee drink. They roast on site and their bean is very good with some great flavor to it. They only downfall of this place is that it is a little overpriced which is not that bad, but when you combine that with the heaps of contempt their barista’s hold toward their customers it makes it a little hard to swallow. I love great coffee, but I hate people who don’t seem to give a shit about the people they are making it for. Great coffee, bad attitude.
