Spyhouse is a huge and very well laid out shop, with lot’s of seating that surrounds the massive bar. It’s location is ideal and is within walking distance to a bunch of different shops/areas. The feature a La Marzocco machine and use a combination of Stumptown and Verve beans. They have a selection of pastries and yogurts to offer on top of their special Spyhouse drink concoctions. Things like the Carmella, which is a latte with carmel and organic Vanilla. Or, the Spygirl which is a latte with lavender and honey. I had a hard time gaging the coffee because the 8oz drink I ordered really was a 10 oz and made the drink really milky. It was very hard to decipher the flavor, however the shop is great and if they could figure out how to get an 8oz drink, I think they might be great.

A bakery located in the middle of a strip mall/shopping center, Rustica is great. Aside from their amazing food, and assortment of delicious baked goods, they rock the house when it comes to coffee. A Synesso machine and using a single origin from Dogwood Coffee Company and Neon Espresso they bring the house down on good coffee. They don’t do double shots in everything, which is a shame because they got everything else right and makes the drink a little pricy. The space is cool and seems like a good place to socialize and meet people. Their is not really any art on the wall other then some pictures of baked goods. The coffee though was presented very nicely, with a small rosetta and good color. The taste had a little bite to it, but was very good and coupled with their delicious food made me want to come back again only 3 hours later.

Name alone, I was sold. This place is 3/4 bike shop, 1/4 coffee shop and all the way awesome. With the smell of fresh inter tubes mixed with coffee, this spot is a must on your coffee journey. Where else can you see a guy working on a fixed-gear bike 10 feet from where they are serving up kick-ass coffee. They rock a great Synesso machine, Intellegencia coffee and serve up some light snacks. The presentation was beautiful with great color, strong texture and the best rosetta I have seen in a long time. The space seats about 30 people and aside from the bike shop that sports everything you would ever need to be a bike messenger, it also has some great art on the wall. The coffee was delicious and very smooth. It does not have as much pop to the flavor as Quixotic does, but still great. Go here!

This place is not for everyone, but if you like really funky and interesting spots, this place rocks. Pretty small, with a shotgun layout and almost everyone of it’s 15 tables are normally packed. With license plates lining the orange walls this place is decorated with a hipster clientele, this place was a nominee for best coffee by City Pages. I don’t know why they want to brag about being a nominee, because the bragging does all the bragging for them. A La Marzocco machine turns out drinks with great color and solid flavor. The coffee is mild, but tasty. It certainly is not as good as Peace, but a fun place to check out and get a solid cup of coffee while you are at it.

A really amazing space buried in a funky neighborhood in Minneapolis. Colorfully decorated with exposed beams, wood paneling, great art and a really cool paper-mache tree behind the bar. The space has a separate room that looks like it is used for barista training, but when not being used for that, is used for overflow seating with lot’s of light and all the coffee accoutrements to look at. They have some food and snacks and are a little bit overpriced (my latte and scone was $7.50.) However, the quality is very good. The espresso had great presentation, solid color and perfect presentation. It even came with a little gingerbread cookie. The coffee was delicious. Was very smooth, but exploding with a lot of flavors. Very happy about this place and their La Marzocco machine. There is a good reason there are so many people hanging out here. A great spot and I highly recommend.

I have no idea how I ended up here, but I did and here are the things I experienced. First, this place is broken up into many different rooms that are not even attached to the actual shop. It felt like a giant complex of funky art, pizza and trekkies. They use a Simonelli machine and their smallest size was a 16 0z. After a long conversation on how I wanted them to fill the 16 oz cup 1/2 way. It seemed to blow her mind to be honest. It was like watching a Neanderthal learning how the internet works. After a 5 minute explanation, I received a full 16 0z blazing hot latte. I don’t understand how in 30 seconds you can forget exactly what a person wants. The coffee was shit and I would say avoid this place like syphilis.
