The On The Hill Cafe is a pretty cool corner coffee shop in a upscale neighborhood. The vibe is really cool and it has a steady flow of people throughout the day. Since it is located so close to the art school, you get a lot of your arty types mixed in with the people who live in the neighborhood around it. The food is very good with a healthy selection of pastries and cooked dishes. They serve Zekes coffee, and the machine they use is a little sub-par. I wanted more out of this place. I wanted them to bust out an amazing espresso, to compliment the coolness of the place, but they did not. It was good, but not as good as the environment.

Spro is the place you are looking for. They have a slick atmosphere, great espresso a La Marzocco and a solid Macchiato. Definitely the best coffee I have had in Baltimore by far. However, I have to admit that the barista working there when I was there was a total bitch. Her standoffishness was a total turnoff from me wanting to like this place. I understand coffee culture breeds a little hipster pretentiousness, but just because you work at a fancy coffee shop does not entitle you to be a stuck up coffee emo chick who thinks you know everything about anything. I hope when you are getting your next “Hello Kitty” tattoo sleeve that they fuck up and mistake your design and end up tattooing you with a picture of a big fat giant picture of a fix geared bike getting ran over by a dumptruck. Good coffee, but not supporting assholes.
