What an awesome space. Right in downtown Dickinson this is A old church that was converted into a small coffee shop. Brilliant! Still with the stained glass windows and pew seats to really give you the church feel. Great food, fast internet, a cool archway and a steady flux of interesting looking people playing chess are probably the best things about the shop (other then the space itself.) The coffee was not super flavorful, which is weird considering they use Full City Coffee. However, the coffee was very good considering the fact you are in Dickinson ND. They also have pour over options. Hey, this is like heaven for ND. Best bet for sure and a great place to hang for an extended period of time.

I don’t know why I ended up hear to be honest. It is located in Scottsdale and in a big shopping complex that caters to the upscale yuppies that live in the area. The do roast on location and have a Probat roaster displayed when you walk in. Some cool art on top of the 30 seats or so to sit and enjoy. Has a Christian owned feel to it. They did not have a 8oz sized cup, but also didn’t throw a fuss about my drink like most places that don’t have that size of drink. A Simonelli machine was used to make my mediocre drink. Not that great, and I would say, only stop here out of complete necessity. Not good coffee at all. They do have some snacks to give you some fuel to get to a better coffee shop if needed.

Shine is a walk-up coffee stand that closes at 2:00 pm. The location is a little puzzling, off of the main street a little and across from a huge apartment complex, I don’t know who they are really serving. Being a walk up, there is not a lot of seating (about 10.) They must serve the apartments and business’s that are around the area to survive. They do have a La Marzocco machine and serve up a decent cup with good color and some good, but light flavor. They are way overpriced, $4.10 for my 8oz double shot latte, making New Zealand prices seam reasonable. Cool spot, but better off paying less and getting better quality somewhere else.

This is a wine and coffee bar, which sometimes brings in a different sort of clientele then most coffee shops, but they balance it well. Real cool space with interesting decor, funky tables, good art hanging on the wall and a few art seats. Plenty of seating and even offer a really cool outside seating area that is covered with nice tapestries allowing you to be in the heat, but not set on fire by it. They have some really good food and I did not have the wine, but I am sure that is quality also. They use a Simonelli machine, which made me a little skeptical. Even though the drink was a little hot, that they forgot I ordered a 8 0z drink and they put a lid on the drink, which did not allow me to see the nice rosetta and color the drink had, the coffee was very nice. Good flavor, that if they could only figure out how to get all the elements working in sync with each other they could be one of the ones at the top of the Coffee Shop greats in Phoenix

Located on Central Avenue, which is divided by the commuter train and across the street from a massive church Citizens Espresso is a cool spot. Lot’s of light welcome you into the smallish shop and whoever designed this place did a great job. A beautiful lighting fixture in the center of the space and interesting art on the wall add to the great layout of the space. They use a pull shot Simonelli and use Lola/Lux coffee. On both occasions I visited screwed my order up. They gave me a 12 oz drink instead of the 8 oz drink I ordered. After correcting it, the drink was very good. Very light flavor, almost subtle, but very good. Great presentation and coupled with their delicious baked goods that they make on location this place is a nice place to spend the morning working. Love it!

A nice little space with a roaster on location that you can watch through what looks like two way glass. About 35 seats (all were in use) at solid looking wooden tables, ok art, but the best part about this place is the bar. Huge bar with an Astoria Machine (I think.) The coffee had ok presentation, was a little hot and just ok. There are to many great coffee shops in the area to waste your time on this place, even if they do roast on location. Nice to grab a pastry or give yourself a decent place to work, but coffee pales in comparison to the other spots in the area.

Only found this place because three other places were closed on easter (thanks Yelp for telling me they were open.) Giant, is near a real cool arts district and is really awesome. It has huge bay doors that let in a plethora of light and has some really cool decor. Great wood interior and funky booths that serve as some sort of elevated desk. Also, one huge table in the middle that allows you to rub elbows with other aspiring hipster writers and graphic designers as HGH long as you can focus through The National blasting through the speakers of the shop. They have direct trade coffee, use stratus organic milk, snacks and a small La Marzocco machine. They don’t do 8oz latte’s, only 6oz cappuccino’s, that turned out to be a latte. Even though they might not know the difference between a latte and a capp, their coffee had great color, good presentation and solid flavor. They use 4 Barrel Coffee and offer you a great overall experience.

A interesting place. Seemed very popular and was packed with old people and families making it hard finding a seat. I am not sure why it is so popular though. Aside from their snacks, and attractive barista’s the coffee was pretty rough. The big give away was that they really promote hard their specialty drinks. “Drink one of our 70 creations” a sign read. Something like Pralines and Cream latte or a Baklava latte, which sounds gross. My drink was made in 30 seconds and was way to hot. Decent space, but hard to find and crappy coffee make it really undesirable.

This place is right in the heart of a really cool neighborhood. What a cool space it is also. Fantastic art and Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel painting on the ceiling makes this a fucking awesome space. Exposed brick, with couches to kick it on and full on desks to work at. Probably one of the coolest coffee shops I have been in! I wish I could speak as highly about their coffee. They have a La Spaziale machine and use Intellegencia coffee. They did not have a 8oz drink and the ceramic mug they gave me was about 12 oz. It did have a nice rosetta, but it was so milky I could not really taste the coffee. If I were you, I would just get a espresso shot here and hang. The owner is cool, and it is nice to see someone building something that is so cool.

A space that looks like was transported right out of Portland. Complete with the white hipsters, retro clothing, funny beards and good coffee. A pour over station, La Marzocco machine and light snacks add to the quality of this place. Did not have 8oz latte on the menu, so rung me up for a australian online pokies cappuccino (which is annoying,) but the coffee was very good. The coffee was a little tart, but had great color and a very nice rosetta. This is a smaller space (20 seats,) but a very cool space and if you want to visit the NW without the shitty weather, go here.
